Summer Reading Groups and AssignmentsCLICK HERE for the vocab list for this novel. If you notice, the words shaded in yellow should be words you should know from our General Paper class. Though you still have to find syns/ants, you won't have to study these as diligently as the others.
Print out the entire list then FIND AND HAND-WRITE the missing information. You can work within your groups if you want, but you must HAND-WRITE this missing info! Click HERE to see our class list, your group, and your assigned theme. Within your group, you are assigned a number, and will focus on that theme within the novel. The themes are at the bottom of the class list. As you read each week (night, whatever), copy word-for-word significant passages onto index cards (or slips of paper cut-out to the size of index cards) that relate to your assigned theme. On one side of the card, you will write the quote, the chapter, page number, and the speaker of the quote. On the other side of the card, you will explain what is significant about the passage you have chosen. Be sure to come back to our site, as we will change themes every so often! We also haven't had a face-to-face session, but we will soon. Be sure to contact everyone in your group! Start emailing each other your notes, ideas, and thoughts. The sooner you start sharing info, the better. DO NOT DELETE YOUR CORRESPONDENCE; you will likely print all of them for your group project. |
JUNIORS - If you have free and reduced lunch, you can sign up for the PSAT for free; if you don't, you will need to pay $14. REMEMBER, you qualify for National Merit Scholarships YOUR JUNIOR YEAR, so it will benefit you to pay the $14 if you do not qualify for free/reduced lunch. IT IS FIRST-COME-FIRST-SERVED, so act quickly! We are expecting ALL of our juniors to sign up! The test is 10/16! |
